Dismotief is an interdisciplinary production exploring Afrikaans language, identity and masculinity. The production brings together different art disciplines with the Afrikaans language as starting point. The project is a transgressive, alternative expression of Afrikaner masculinity that reacts on the discourse concerning the nature of postcolonial whiteness in Africa. The poetry of Tertius Kapp, Loftus Marais and Wyn Roux are interpreted by composers and artists. The exhibition is accompanied by musical performances. With Franco Prinsloo (director), Richardt Strydom (curator), Steven Bosch (curator), Pieter Bezuidenhout, Braam du Toit and Abri de Swardt.

Dismotief will be debuting at this year’s Aardklop National Arts Festival 2-6 October 2012. Venue: Potchefstroom City Hall
